New Partnerships Help Cav Futures Prepare to Tackle Career Readiness

Cav Futures Partners with Lacrosse & Football Alumni Networks to Expand Career Readiness Services

JULY 11, 2022 (Charlottesville, VA): Cav Futures, the University of Virginia’s NIL entity, today announced their partnership with both the Virginia Football Alumni Club and Virginia Lacrosse Alumni Network. This partnership includes the use of technology to share capabilities, and to help other sports’ graduates to find meaningful employment.

Career Readiness and Job Placement make up one of the four core focus areas of Cav Futures, explained Lo Davis, the Executive Director. “The University of Virginia has a pedigree unlike any other. Athletes can compete at a high level while attending an elite university. We are working to help the entire student-athlete base take the next step by having a brand that will be with them for forty years.”

“The Lacrosse Alumni Network has been around for 25 years,” said Drew Fox. “We are excited to share what we’ve learned and bring it to the wider Virginia student-athlete base. A few years ago we added UVA Womens’ Lacrosse and we’ve seen real success. Teaming up with Cav Futures will be a significant boost for the whole program.”

“Just in 2022 we’ve helped eight graduating football players find amazing jobs,” said Bill Curry, one of the Directors at the Virginia Football Alumni Network. “Our goal is to help our graduating brethren learn to network, interview, and get lasting employment. The incredible degree these young people get at the University of Virginia should immediately be put to good use. This is a forty-year decision that is made by coming to UVA.”

Both networks have already had a profound impact on student-athletes’ professional development at UVA. Recently, the Football Alumni Network helped to facilitate an internship opportunity for rising 5th year safety Coen King at Boston Scientific. Boston Scientific is a biomedical and biotechnology engineering company, and multinational medical device manufacturer headquartered in Marlborough, MA. Cav Futures looks forward to creating similar opportunities for athletes across all sports through their partnerships with the Football & Lacrosse Alumni Networks.
